"Scratch Baking Since 1984"

The Bread Box Bakery and Cafe, located in the Heart of Shipshewana, Indiana has been serving Scratch-baked traditional foods since 1984.  The mission of the Bread Box Bakery has always been to offer a unique dining experience to each customer.  Whether stopping in for a favorite baked good or lingering over a bowl of homemade soup, our goal is for each person to take home a special memory.

The Bread Box Bakery offers 11 kinds of breads, saucer-sized cookies, flaky crust pies, giant cinnamon rolls, cakes and many varieties of mouth-watering desserts.

From the personal sized pies to the secret recipe peanut brittle chewies, there is aways something for everyone.  The Bread Box Bakery and Cafe of Shipshewana also carries other locally produced items such as Yoder's popcorn, Fern's Noodles and Yoder's jams, jellies and butters.
Lunch is served at the Cafe located inside the store.  Choose from the many types of sandwiches or paninis served on homemade bread.  Try a fresh salad or a bowl of soup made from scratch. Because of the historical location of the Bread Box Bakery & Cafe, customers have the unique experience of dining in the home of Shipshewana's founder. They can also enjoy outdoor dining in a garden setting.

The large front porch, gazebo and arbor offer a great view of small town Amish life.  What a fun way to relax during a busy day of shopping!
Most of the delicious items from the Bread Box Bakery & Cafe can also be purchased at the Shipshewana Flea Market. The Flea Market, which is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays May through October, is located just two blocks from the store. The two booths for the Bread Box Bakery are easily found next to Concession Stand A.

April - December
Monday - Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
February - March
Thursday - Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

We are closed on Sundays,
Thanksgiving Day and
Christmas Day through January 31st
and Monday - Wednesday, February - March
